The Governor said it. The Mayor said it. We're in a winter state of emergency. And state government offices are closed for the day.

State Government Facility Closures On Monday, January 28

Due to the emergency snow conditions impacting the state of Michigan, all state government offices in the Lower Peninsula will be closed on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 10 a.m. (michigan.gov)

Schools, cities and counties around the Lansing area also closed Monday.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor announced Monday morning that all non-essential city functions are suspended due to the extreme weather. All city sponsored events and meetings are canceled. (Lansing State Journal)

During a Snow Emergency, non-essential commercial, private and public travel on city roads, as well as on-street parking is prohibited to ensure safety and efficiency during snow clearing operations. The emergency vehicle access plan to support police, fire and EMS personnel, as well as the community-wide critical communications plan have both been implanted. All local resources are being utilized to their fullest extent.

Residents are reminded that city ordinance requires property owners to clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after snow stops falling. (lansingmi.gov)
