Michael "Jim" Delligatti, the man who created the most ordered and iconic item on the McDonald's menu, the Big Mac, died Monday at the age of 98.

Delligatti created the iconic burger, which we all know has two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun, and also for calling it "The Big Mac Super Sandwich"

The burger became so popular that it made the menu at all of the McDonald's in 1967 and has stayed there ever since. Delligatti graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 and was inducted in the Alumni Association Wall of Fame in 2006. So while you chow down on that Big Mac know that it was created by a Spartan, Go Green!
