Back in June in ran into an old friend of mine that I hadn't seen in years and he told me about a diet that he was on called the Carnivore Diet. He was bragging about how good he felt, the energy he had, and how great he slept at night. After he explained all the things you can and can't eat, I decided to give it a try.

At first, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it because the only thing you can eat is meat. I literally ate meat (mainly beef) for the past 90 days. You see, this is a zero carb/zero sugar diet. That means you can't have fruits/veggies, soda, alcohol, juice, bread, candy, pasta and anything else that isn't meat. I'm not going to lie it was tough from time to time because I freaking love ice cream. The majority of the time I ate steak three times a day. Just steak and water, nothing else.

After only a few days, I was already starting to feel better. The first thing I noticed was how good I was sleeping at night. For years I've had issues with waking up in the middle of the night and never being able to go back to sleep. I was also snoring so bad my girlfriend was about to murder me. Actually, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea just days before I started the Carnivore Diet. Now, I rarely snore, I never get acid reflux (that was another issue I had), and sleep apnea is a thing of the past.

The other thing I noticed within the first week was how much energy I had. There were days I felt so good that it felt like I was on something. I couldn't believe that a simple diet could make me this way.

The biggest thing was the weight loss. I lost 15 pounds in 90 days and I never exercised once. 15 pounds may not seem like much but I didn't have a ton that I needed to lose in the first place. Another buddy of mine who's a lot bigger than me and also on this diet lost 34 pounds in 90 days.

I said to myself that if I could reach 90 days, I would reevaluate whether or not I wanted to stay on it. Honestly, I don't want to live the rest of my life like this so I plan on modifying things a bit. I want to stay at about 80% meat with some green vegetables for fiber and some fruit that's low in sugar. I also want to throw in a couple of cheat days here and there which is something I never did in those 90 days.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you one of my biggest accomplishments, I didn't have a single beer for 90 days. That is the longest I've gone since I was a teenager (sorry mom). I did have Titos Vodka a few times but that was it. They say you're not supposed to drink alcohol on the diet but if you must, make it something clear and low in carbs.

I didn't cover everything here about the Carnivore Diet but I did touch on the main things. You can find out more here. If you think it's something you want to try, I suggest talking to your doctor first.
