East Lansing Phone Survey About The Police Mar. 1 – 14
I know how much I don't like getting and answering calls from numbers I don't know. Especially if it comes across as unknown or telemarketer.
So next week might prove a little challenging when this happens in East Lansing.
March 1st through the 14th, the City of East Lansing will be conducting a phone survey of its residents to find out more about police-community relations.
The purpose of the survey is to measure the perceptions of East Lansing residents regarding the function, operation and fairness of the East Lansing Police Department. This information is intended to help improve department operations and make future decisions regarding policy, training and allocation of resources. The survey is also intended to be re-administered over time to measure changes in resident perceptions. (cityofeastlansing)
This comes in the wake of data from the East Lansing Police Department that African Americans residents were 3x more like to be pulled over in the city.
In the last four months of 2020 (Sept. – Dec.), 24 percent of people stopped by police were black.
That is significant considering the latest data from the census which shows African Americans make up less than 7 percent of the population, while Caucasians make up more than 75 percent. (WLNS)

If you are randomly selected the survey is said to take about 10 minutes to complete and your input is most valuable.
