The sweet dog who survived just about every imaginable obstacle ever after he plunged  into the icy Detroit River, has a new "furever" home.

Friends of the River Rouge Animal Shelter took to Facebook to share the update on the reduced pooch saying,

"Today the story came full circle. Today the little Miracle dog was placed into the hands of the hero who saved his life. That’s right....this dog who defied ALL THE ODDS will now live happily ever after w the man who saved his life. Miracle could not ASK for a better or more ideal family to love him!"

We told you about the harrowing rescue when it all happened in February That's when the dog, once named Alfonso, now known as Miracle, was stranded on ice in the middle of the river for four days. During that time the dog repeatedly fell into the river and climbed back onto the ice in freezing temperatures.

It wasn't until a Good Samaritan came to his rescue. Veterinarians that examined the rescued dog said it was a miracle he survived as long as he did, hence the new name. He was suffering from frostbite, malnutrition, and severe pancreatitis and reportedly had blocks of ice frozen in his fur.

The shelter stated they were overwhelmed with support and love for Miracle, and had so many offers to adopt the now recovering dog.

"Many wanted to adopt Miracle. We heard some of the most beautiful stories from so many people as to why they wanted to give him a home, but in the end, and after a VERY CAREFUL, stringent, and thorough application process, which included a home visit as well (thank you to our Canadian friend Mary) it was decided that the man who saved Miracle was the very best fit for him."

According to the Facebook post, the name of the "hero" who rescued Miracle is Jude, and he and his family are welcoming Miracle to his new home just across the river in Canada.
