Before you go and bite into that burger or even the tomato (we don't judge), you should be aware of a recall hitting tomatoes across the state over salmonella concerns. The recall is currently affecting 11 states, including here in Michigan.

Major Tomato Recall Hitting Michigan Over Salmonella Concerns
Ray & Mascari Inc., which is based out of Indianapolis, Indiana, just recalled their 4-count Vine Ripe Tomatoes that are packaged in 20 oz. plastic container. Tomatoes were distributed to Gordon Food Services Across the state of Michigan.

This is an important recall to pay attention to, as Salmonella can make you extremely sick. Especially if you have the young, pregnant, or elderly living in your homes.
What is Salmonella?
Salmonella can be found in undercooked meat, and even produce. It is typically spread through cross-contamination. Whether it be on infected surfaces, or through non-hand washing.
Symptoms of Salmonella can include:
- Diarrhea
- Stomach Cramps
- Fever
- Nausea and Vomiting
- Headache

The product recalled are the 4-count Vine Ripe Tomatoes, which are packed in their 20 oz. containers.
