
Popular Michigan Snacks Affected By The FDA Ban
Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it would phase out harmful chemicals and dyes that are found in many foods, by the end of 2026. These chemicals and dyes have been linked to potential health risks, especially in children.

With that being said, a lot of foods use many different chemicals. Some of which you probably have in your cabinet right now.
Popular Michigan Snacks Affected By The FDA Ban
The FDA is going to work on phasing out many synethic dyes over the next couple of years.

Here is a full list of the dyes that the U.S. Government is working on eliminating from going into your foods.
- Red No. 3 (Erythrosine)
- Red No. 40
- Yellow No. 5
- Yellow No. 6
- Blue No. 1
- Blue No. 2
- Green No. 3
- Citrus Red No. 2
- Orange B
It should be noted that Red No. 3 is banned in cosmetics, and has been that way now since 1990. Food and drug limitations will start by January 15, 2027.
The Popular Snacks Affected Here in Michigan
There will be a couple different items affected here in the state of Michigan, that will have to change their ingredients just a little bit.
Flamin' Hot Cheetos
Flaming Hot Cheetos, contain Red No. 40 and Yellow No. 6
Doritos
Doritos use Yellow No.5 and Red No. 40.
M&M's
Include Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5 as well as Blue No. 1.
Skittles
Skittles contain Yellow No.5, Yellow No. 6, and Red No. 40.
Pop-Tarts
Poptarts use Red No. 40 and Blue No.1.
PepsiCo, which owns brands like Lay's and Tostitos plans to eliminate many artificial ingredients by the end of 2025.
