The Shade & Blasphemy of Popeye’s @ Chick-Fil-A

Real talk, I was (and am still) mad. I never had a chance to get one of the famed Popeyes now infamous chicken sandwiches. Folks marveled at it. People did reaction videos. Side by side taste tests with Chick-Fil-A. And some folks had the AUDACITY to claim it was a better sandwich than Chick-Fil-A.

How dare you?!?

It was so popular, it took over social media. Lines around the building. And in a move that I have only seen at Detroit chicken joints, they ran out. How do you run out of chicken at a chicken restaurant? They debuted it and in a matter of 2 weeks, they were gone. Popeyes even tried the "hey make your own" and bring in a bun and we'll sell you chicken tenders (not cool man...not cool).

But rejoice brothers and sisters. The wait is over. Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is back. This weekend. Sunday to be exact. And there's always a method to the madness.

Sunday, November 3rd is National Sandwich Day.

So they're bringing they sandwich back on THAT DAY. Because it's a sandwich. And it just so happens to be the day that Chick-Fil-A is closed.

Genius? Maybe. Blasphemy? Sacrilege? Perhaps. And if you aren't laughing at the tongue and cheek of all of this, please save your complaint emails. They will be wasted.

But the irony isn't lost on us.

Annie, Popeyes spokeswoman, what's your take at this subtle jab at your competition and the slinging your chicken sandwich on the holiest of days for the sake of a dollar?

That look says it all. And we'll see you in line. Right after church. I'm getting one this time.
