Major Road & Intersection in Downtown Lansing to Close

Due to road construction season a major intersection and stretch of Cesar E. Chavez Ave will be closed down. According to WILX, The City of Lansing is closing down Cesar E. Chavez Avenue between Capitol Avenue and Turner Street and Washington Avenue between Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Maple Street beginning Monday, Apr. 29.This stretch of Cesar Chavez Ave is starting to be closed today, Monday April 29th, for road repair and utility repair.

If you don't have to drive through this area then don't but if you need to there are numerous detours. First, if you are going westbound you will be detoured south on N. Cedar St. to Oakland Ave. Next, if you are going eastbound you will be detoured south on N. Capitol Ave. to Saginaw St. You can see more detours and other ways to avoid it here. 

The road construction and maintenance should be going on through the summer with the work hopefully done by August 9th. More on it here.
