Large Retailer Pier 1 Closing Stores

So we knew that Pier 1 was closing stores but now they are going to be closing more stores than previous thought. According to WILX, retailer, Pier 1 Imports, says it is closing 57 stores this year, which is up from 45 stores that most previous thought they would close. There are some reports that more stores will close. Some estimates are at as many as 100+ more, or 15% of their stores, are under risk of closing.

There are two Pier 1 stores in the Lansing area, one on the west side and one in Eastwood Town Center. Not sure if any in these stores in our area are under risk of closing but more news on this is sure to come. I would think at least before the holiday shopping season more news will come on this.
