West Michigan Japanese Restaurant Expands with New Location

An innovative Japanese restaurant serving up Sushi, Poke, Rice Bowls, and more, has a new location in the Grand Rapids area.

Kawa Sushi Rockford recently celebrated its second anniversary.

The Japanese eatery and sushi bar first opened at 8 E. Bridge St. NE, Suite 104A in spring of 2022.

The new location, Kawa Express, is now open at 5301 Division Ave S. Suite E in Wyoming.

At the fast-casual restaurant you'll find Poke Bowls and Build-Your-Own Bowls with proteins, vegetables, and homemade sauces.

Pick a base of Salad, Sushi Rice, White Rice, or Garlic Noodles. Protein options include Teriyaki Chicken, Jeyuk Spicy Pork, Bulgogi Beef, Teriyaki Steak, Crispy Tofu, Ahi Tuna, Salmon and Crab Salad. You can then add toppings like Seaweed Salad, Edamame, Pickled Jalapeno, and Seaweed Salad.

The menu also includes Signature Bowls like the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl above, which features house marinated Chicken Teriyaki, Rice, Salad, Kimchi Slaw, Roasted Corn, Pickled Jalapeno, Pickled Daikon, and Macaroni Salad. It's topped with house made Teriyaki Sauce and house made Yum Yum Sauce.

Sides include Garlic Parmesan Fries, Soy Garlic Gyoza, Mini Egg Rolls, and Miso Soup. You can also order Loaded Kimi Fries which include your choice of protein, Queso, Kimchi Slaw, and your choice of sauce.

Kawa Express also offers sushi rolls like the California Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Tuna Avocado Roll.

Beverages include Aguas Fresca, and Horchata.
