Check Out the Inside of This Historic Mid Michigan Mansion
If you've ever driven down West State Street in St. Johns you've probably seen this giant mansion.
This is the Hicks Mansion. It has a long heritage in St. Johns, having been built in 1873.
The Hicks Mansion in St. Johns
Steve and Jenny Heath were the previous owners for the last eight years, but it just recently changed hands to Claire Breen and her husband. The Breens hope to return this ole gal to her former glory so that she can be added to the State and National Historic Registries.
However, before the Heaths sold the Hicks Mansion to the Breens, they gave FOX 47 a walk-through.
The Heaths spent eight years of their time and money fixing, remodeling, and updating the mansion while still working to preserve its old, interesting features. Features like the tiled floors, the painted ceilings, the moldings, and more.
During the walk-through, we got to see how the Heaths worked to preserve the house's heritage while trying to update it. The room that looks most up-to-date is probably the kitchen. But places like the foyer and one of the bathrooms looks like a blast from the past. I especially love the pink bathtub.
