Before you let your kids dive into their Halloween candy, you should be aware that an Ann Arbor favorite, Zingerman's Candy Manufactory, just recalled two chocolate bars for an allergy mix-up.

What Was Recalled and Why

The Peanut Butter Crush bar could contain undeclared cashews, and the Ca$hew Cow bar may have undeclared peanuts. If you or your kid has a nut allergy, this could be a serious and potentially life-threatening risk.

How to Identify the Affected Bars

If you want to verify what is being recalled, look out for the full-size 2-ounce bars with Lot #174250. These were sold at many retailers in Michigan as well as in New York. No illnesses have been reported revolving around the recall, but it is real and confirmed by the FDA after a packaging/production error put the wrong labels on some bars.

This is more serious right now, especially with Halloween just a few days away.

What To Do If You Have One

If you think that you have one of the affected bars and you have any allergies, you should not try to eat the product. Especially if you have any allergies in your house. You can return it to the store for a full refund or contact Zingerman's customer service.

This is a smaller and targeted recall, but if you do have an allergy, it could be potentially serious. If you have an EpiPen, it may be smart to keep it handy, especially while your kids go trick-or-treating. The recall was announced on October 24, 2025, and the affected bars were pulled from shelves, but some people may still have these products inside their pantries.
