How many of you used to go to a nearby Towne Club outlet and get a whole case - 24 bottles - of Michigan-made Towne Club pop for $2 or less? I remember buying a whole wooden case of Towne Club for only $1.24!

It was great...you'd take your empties back to the outlet, then mix and match any flavors you wanted. I attempted to try as many of their flavors as I could! Another great thing, they were in GLASS bottles, which made the pop taste SO much better.

Usually found in the Detroit area, it finally made it's way to parts of Mid-Michigan in the 1970's where I, and many others, relished in the flavors and the low cost! LESS THAN TEN CENTS A BOTTLE!

Towne Club started in the mid-1960s in Detroit. It was available in their "pop outlets" and sold extremely well, thanks to the variety of flavors and its affordable price. Sure, it did well in low-income households, but it also appealed to anyone from any walk of life.

Towne Club intentionally set out to compete with another Michigan classic pop, Faygo. And it worked. Towne Club outlets soon expanded into a handful of other states, as far away as Florida.

Towne Club's current flavors include:
City Rush (tastes like Mt. Dew)
Cola
Ginger Ale
Grape
Honolulu Blue Cream Soda
Lion Energy
Mango Orange
Michigan Berries
Michigan Cherry
Orange
Peach
Pineapple Passionfruit
Root Beer
Strawberry
Strawberry Melon
Tiger Citrus Punch
Tropical Punch
Vanilla Cream

For those of you who were old enough to remember the fun we had, going back over & over to the Towne Club "Pop Center" with our wooden crates filled with Towne Club empties, this post is for you.
