A confrontation between Tom Izzo and Gabe Brown has the Michigan State coach in a little bit of hot water.

Michigan State was headed into halftime of their first round NCAA tournament game with an 11 point lead. Things looked good for Sparty on the scoreboard, but there was something weird with the team dynamics. The commentators even noticed that there seemed to be quite a bit of infighting between the Spartans. Things exploded just before half as Tom Izzo grabbed, then ran after Gabe Brown as they went into the locker room.

The video above shows just how heated the situation really was. We obviously don't know what they were talking about, but the way that Gabe Brown turned around to square up against Izzo is a good sign that it was NOT friendly.

Izzo was asked about the Gabe Brown exchange in the post game press conference and his first response was to laugh.

Izzo gave a brief explanation about what lead up to the exchange with Brown, then laughed at the reporter for asking the question.

Look, we all know that Tom Izzo is a tough coach. We all know that he is as intense as anyone on the sidelines. That toughness and intensity is why a lot of players choose to go to Michigan State, but in the heat of the moment, things can get touchy.

We will most likely never know what Izzo and Brown said to each other exactly, but I don't think any Michigan State fan was shocked by what they saw. We all watched the same thing happen with Izzo and Henry in the last tournament. Izzo did cross a few lines with his interaction, but so far none of the Spartan players have spoken out against their coach. In fact a notable former player came to Izzo's defense.

If I had to guess, I assume that this story will stick around for a day or two, then fade off into the excitement of March Madness.

Do you think that Izzo needs to be punished for the exchange?
