Target Recalls Frosted Sugar Cookies Over Wood Contamination
The beauty of a late-night snack is that calories don't count after a certain time. Right? I mean, if you have a cookie at 11 p.m., it won't count toward the calories you've had the rest of the day.
Well, this recall may change that. But it may be saving you calories in the long run.
Why the Recall Happened
Target just announced that it is recalling Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies due to possibly containing wood. Over 12,000 packages (nearly 800 cases) of the 10-count frosted sugar cookies are being pulled in nearly 20 states, and that includes right here in Michigan.

What Was Recalled (UPC & Lot Details)
If you have or have recently bought any of the affected cookies from Target, here are a few things that you should pay attention to:
- UPC: 85239-41250
- Lot Number: 25195
It should be noted that the best-by dates on the product aren't clearly labeled and can vary depending on when stores remove them from their freezers.
FDA Classification Explained
The recall hit on July 22, 2025, and the FDA gave it a Class II rating on August 4, 2025. A Class II recall from the Food and Drug Administration means that cookies might cause temporary or reversible health issues, but serious harm is unlikely.
What You Should Do Next
While there haven't been any reported issues so far, the danger of ingesting wood fragments isn't something to be taken lightly. If you have a box of the cookies, it is best not to eat them.
You should instead toss them out or return them to Target for a full refund.
