Popeyes Chicken Sandwich – The Good, The Bad, The WAIT
Large & The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich
I'm gonna try to keep this simple.
The good:
Yes, the sandwich is good. Very good. It's got flavor. It's not bland (sorry Chick-Fil-A, your sandwich is alright but a little on the super safe side). The bread is perfect. There is plenty of chicken. A nice sized piece of chicken breast. Seasoned great. The sauce is awesome. It's pretty simple. Bun, sauce, pickles, chicken, the end. I got the spicy version because that's how I roll. So it had a little kick but it wasn't set your face on fire spicy or hot. Might be a little salty. But it's fried fast food. It lives up to the better than the competition hype but it's not worth hurting anyone over. I would suggest you try it. It's more than a sandwich right now. It's a happening. Folks are talking about it. Even in line all folks could talk about was the sandwich and people stabbing each other over it. Real talk.
The bad:
Remember when I said it was a little salty?

The WAIT:
The worst thing about getting this entire extravaganza was the wait. I was in line for a little bit and then after paying for my sandwich, I waited 19 minutes for it. I talked about it on social media and my one friend was like, you should be happy because some folks have said they waited an hour for it. An hour? For a chicken sandwich?
I think there was a dude there who actually ordered his sandwich, left and went down the road (mind you this was on a Saturday at the Saginaw Hwy Popeyes) to Chick-Fil-A, got a sandwich there and came back in with the Chick-Fil-A bag in hand and finishing eating one of their sandwiches. And nope, his Popeyes chicken sandwich was still not done.
Folks have commented several times on social media, the customer service and speed at Chick-Fil-A is hands down a million times better than Popeyes. I agree.
So who has the better sandwich? Popeyes. Flavor wise Chick-Fil-A is good but safe and what you're used to. Popeyes is new, spicy, different. And hella dangerous depending on where you get it lol.
Better customer service and speed: Definitely Chick-Fil-A. And you're still getting a solid sandwich.
Sidebar, I've eaten a lot of Popeyes in my lifetime. Their wait times have always been a problem. And after the success of this sandwich and then them bringing it back to be on the menu full time, you would think they would be prepared for the demand.
No such luck.
Love that chicken from Popeyes. And this sandwich. The wait...not so much.
You get that Annie?
Don't look at me in that tone of voice.
