A 15-year-old boy was missing and his mom wants to warn other parents after she found messages telling her son to kill himself before he went missing.

A Michigan mother warns other parents about the need to keep close tabs on their children's phone and social media activity after discovering her son had been receiving messages telling him to kill himself in the months before he disappeared. That was not all she found either. There were other concerning conversations with an adult that shocked Shane's mother.

15-year-old Shane was missing for over a month but he has since been located. His mother would like to warn other parents and guardians of the dangers lurking both online and through personal mobile devices for children. Keep tabs on their activity and talk to them about what is appropriate and inappropriate for online conversations. Let them know that they can come to you if someone is threatening or asking inappropriate questions. It is also important they know not to give out personal details to or to share photos with anyone you would not want them to.
