Michigan Residents Warned About Convincing Amazon Text Scam
If you are anything like me, you probably order way too much from Amazon, which is why this new scam going around Michigan is scary.
Why This Amazon Scam Feels So Real
There is a new wave of text messages hitting people's phones that look like they're coming from Amazon. It may not be obvious they are junk either... these are designed to look legit. These are messages about product recalls, order issues, or even problems with your account.

What Happens If You Click The Link
The text will usually include what looks like a real order number and a link. It makes you think that you did something wrong with your order, but that is exactly what the scammers are hoping for.
When you click on that link, you're taken to a page that will ask for your info—bank account, credit card info, or whatever they can get from you. A lot of people fall for this scam because it sounds like you're just trying to fix a problem or get a refund.
How To Tell If The Text Is Fake
Amazon is warning their customers not to even touch these links.
If you get one of these texts, don't reply and don't click on anything. Go straight to your Amazon account or the app and check your orders. If it is real, it will show up. If you don't see anything, it is a scam.
What You Should Do If You Get One
If a random text is trying to rush you into clicking on something, that is your red flag that it may not be real.
Scammers have only been getting smarter in recent years, and they're counting on the fact that we all order enough stuff that one of these messages may actually feel real when it is not.
