Thanksgiving is next week and maybe you are starting to feel the stress of the holidays, I know I am.  Well now may be the time to start to shop for your holiday attire.

I am not a fan of shopping and do much of it online, but if I do venture out If I know where the deals are first.  I hear that Lansing thrift stores have a ton of stuff with a lot of variety, so maybe it's time to give them a try.

There are a few things to keep in mind before hitting thrift stores according to They remind us to shop in moderation. I think this is great advice, just because you come across something you sort of like, does not mean you have to buy it.

This Is a Great Idea

I have a lot of stuff I bought the last few years that I have never worn and a lot of it just clutters up my small apartment.

And here is a great idea, collect some items at your house to donate before you hit a thrift store. Really a is a great way to stay organized and save space.


Also double check the sizing, and try on your clothes before buying them! Sizing has never been standard, and you can’t always return your clothes to the thrift. Additionally, if you’re shopping vintage, the sizing chart is pretty far off than what we have today.

Volunteers Of America has four locations in the Lansing area.

Metro Retro on Chavez in Lansing,

St Vincent Of De Paul has a thrift store that supports charities in Lansing and all proceeds go back into helping the community.

Whether you want to shop there or not, consider a donation or drop off clothes you will not wear again. You know the ones you bought last year that still have tags.
