There's increasing confidence among weather forecasters that much of Lower Michigan - including Lansing, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Flint and Kalamazoo - could be at risk for severe weather this Friday.

The potential for large hail and isolated tornadoes appear to be the main threats at this time, according to the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center.

Will There Be Tornadoes in Michigan This Friday?

The National Weather Service currently has the southern half of Lower Michigan at a "slight" risk of severe storms on Friday. NWS forecasters say "a few non-severe storms are expected early Friday morning. Additional storms will develop Friday evening. The evening storms could become severe with damaging winds the main threat."
