There's a particular feeling you get when you see a restaurant closure announcement on Facebook. It's no longer surprising, just disappointing.
What Happened at Chapelure
That was the case with Chapelure, the coffee shop and bakery located in Hannah Plaza in East Lansing, which announced its permanent closure at the end of this month.
The announcement was shared on Chapelure's Facebook page on December 15, 2025, thanking customers for nearly 18 years of support.
Chapelure first opened its doors in 2008 near the Eastwood Towne Center before moving to Hannah Plaza. Over the years, it became a go-to spot for French pastries and classic coffee-shop fare.
When Chapelure is Closing
The last day of business will be Saturday, December 20, giving customers one last chance to enjoy a coffee, a pastry, or just one last visit to this familiar spot.
The reason for the closure has not been publicly disclosed, a common occurrence as Lansing's restaurant landscape continues to shift. Chapelure is one of more than a dozen local eateries in the Lansing area that have closed this year, reflecting the challenges many local businesses face.
