Michigan has now seen 16 measles cases this year, which is already more than we've had in recent memory here in the state. The Upper Peninsula also just saw it's first cases in Marquette, as well as, Ontonagon Counties by late May. This is not just isolated to one region in Michigan, it seems to be spreading.

It is just not a Michigan problem either, there have been 1,200 other cases of measles reported this far into 2025. That is the highest number in years. most are tied to the decline in vaccination rates, which is concerning because measles can be incredibly contagious. It can stay present in a room for up to two hours after an infected person was present in the room.
