This little out-of-the-way cemetery has been called 'abandoned', but it is far from it.

True, the last burial here at the Foote-Rockwell Cemetery was in 1926, but it is being kept-up very nicely. It's surrounded by trees in a pocket alongside Hagadorn Road and is a very serene, pretty place to sit and ponder.

The first burial took place here in 1850: Phoebe H. Rockwell, born in 1811 was a member of the Truman Rockwell family who owned the farm property on which this graveyard was founded.

There are 43 known names here, with approximately 23 others that remain unknown and unmarked.

This historic Ingham County cemetery can be found at the junction of Hagadorn Rd. and Atrium Drive, south of Jolly Road.

It may be a very old graveyard but it's very well taken care of. If you visit, don't litter or vandalize. Respect this and all cemeteries, historic and otherwise.
