If you are looking to help out your present and future self and have a criminal record,  you might want to check out this fair. It's not a fair where you get elephant ears or ride ferris wheels, but it has been done a few times in the state. It's called an Expungement Fair, and it's happening Saturday Aug 17th at the Michigan Works Southeast office in Jackson at 209 E. Washington Ave.

Now here's what is going to happen: according to MLive, Michigan Works will be partnering with lawyers that come to the fair and assist those trying to get their record cleared by helping them navigate the expungement law in Michigan.

Here's what you need to come to this fair and have your record expunged. First, convictions on the charges to be set aside must have occurred in Michigan. At least five years must have passed since the date of conviction, release for incarceration or discharge of probation or parole, depending on whichever occurred most recently. In addition, you must have no more than one felony conviction and no more than two misdemeanor convictions.

While at this interesting fair, Michigan Works will help in paying for some costs. This expungement fair has happened once already this year and another one is coming on Friday, Oct. 18 in Lenawee County.
