Everything You Need To Know About The East Lansing Art Festival This Weekend
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is the annual East Lansing Art Festival. For over 50 years, the ELAF has drawn all kinds of vendors, artists, performers, and (like me) festival goers to flock to Downtown East Lansing to be apart of it.
The best part about this annual festival, in my opinion, is the wide scope it has. Hundreds of artisans, with hundreds of mediums, all in one place; So I can take in the views of gorgeous paintings, eat fresh kettle corn, and purchase my annual adorable knickity-knack all at the same time! If you make your way to the art festival at some point this weekend, here is a list of SOME of the items you might come across:
- Handmade jewelry
- Paintings
- Photos/Prints
- Drawings
- Handmade soaps, lotions, etc.
- Camping tools
- Knitted Items
- Tie dye items
- Arts & Crafts
- Food & Drink
- And so, SO much more…
The festival kicks off with a concert on Friday night at 7 pm with a performance from Huckleberry Groove (music is another HUGE part of the festival). The "arts" part continues on Saturday and Sunday;
Saturday = 10am - 6pm
Sunday = 10am - 5pm
Plus, the ELAF is a totally free event. So even if you had zero money to spend, you could just people watch and appreciate all the art. But what's definitely not free that day... parking in East Lansing. There will also be some parking lots closed for the day. So I would recommend car-pooling, taking the bus, biking or walking. Also, keep in mind that some of the streets are going to be shut down as well.
These streets will be shut down from 9am Friday to 10pm Sunday:
- Albert Ave. between Charles & Evergreen
- Abbot Rd. between Grand River & Elizabeth
- M.A.C. between Grand River & Albert Ave.
If you want more info on this yearly event you can check out their Facebook, or just check out the website HERE! I can't wait to make my over there this weekend, especially because I get to enjoy this year's festival with my parents! *more on that later this week, stay tuned!*
