You will be able to sit out at a restaurant on the patio and enjoy a meal with your dog now according to a new Michigan bill. The current state law doesn't allow dogs at all restaurants, including on patios, because of concerns about diseases that can spread from animals to humans.

Now new Senate Bill 727, would allow dogs on patios but there are some rules in place. The area would have to be free of dog hair and regularly cleaned, and the dog would have to be accompanied by somebody over 18. Dogs have to be on leashes, and employees who petted dogs would have to wash their hands before serving customers.

Another addition to the bill also lets local governments and restaurants decide if this is something they'd like to do.
