The Census Bureau will be doing their big count of citizens over the next year and looking to hire thousands to do so. Every 10 years, the U.S does a count of their citizens, along with counting other things, and the Census Bureau needs lots of help to do it with thousands of open positions nationwide by August.

Most of open positions are in the In-Field Address Canvassing, which goes around and sees where people live or can live and correlate that to their list from 2010 and see what changes. They will be also be hiring through out the year for these jobs and also jobs that have workers go to homes of people that haven't filled out their census. More on the open positions here.

The good thing about these Census jobs are that you can get lots of hours of work and also in Michigan you can make between $14 and $19 an hour.

You can see all of the job openings here Also when you apply if you aren't called for jobs now you can still be hired later in the year.
