Just when you thought it was safe to take off your mask, it's time to put them back on as we battle a new strain of COVID-19, the Delta variant.

Whether you're vaccinated or not, it's a good idea for everyone in the state of Michigan to start thinking about masking up for the safety of not only yourself, but for the safety of others.

There are 83 counties in the state of Michigan. At this point in time, the Centers for Disease Control is now recommending more than half of these Michigan counties should mask up indoors.

In fact, beginning on Monday, August 9, anyone who enters an office building in Lansing will be required to mask up indoors.

If you take a look at the most recent CDC transmission Michigan map, you'll see the color scheme layout of blue, which is low, and red, which is high.

Based on the transmission map, just about the entire southern half of the Lower Peninsula is being asked to mask up again.

According to mlive.com:

As of Thursday, Aug. 5, there were 44 counties at "high" or "Substantial" levels of community coronavirus transmission, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's case and test positivity criteria. The CDC uses a four-level system, and recommends everyone wear masks indoors when their community reaches the top two designations.

It just seems like we can never get a break when it comes to this ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Most of us have been enjoying summer by not wearing a mask and feeling somewhat normal again.

It's like two steps forward and one step back. The Centers for Disease Control is urging us to mask up again and I say let's follow their guidelines and do what's best for everyone. Mask up and stay safe!
