Camila Cabello Thought She was Going to Die the Night Before Her Album Came Out
It was the night of January 11, and Camila Cabello was settling down in her hotel room, resting up before an early 4 a.m. wake up call to promote her highly anticipated debut album, Camila on Good Morning America. The "Havana" singer was feeling anxious about the big day and couldn't fall asleep. And then something happened that she thought might be the end of her life.
"I could not sleep. My heart was beating so fast," Cabello told Zane Lowe in an interview for Apple Music's Beats 1 Monday (January 15). " I would just try to go to sleep, and then I would just get my phone and I'd be like, 'Did it come out yet?'"
Just as the ex Fifth Harmony member started drifting off to sleep, the unexpected happened: a stranger appeared in her room.
"I was trying to go to sleep and this lady came in, and she scared the bejeezus out of me," she recalled. "I was like about to go to sleep, and I thought that I was having a nightmare. She was like, 'Hello?' I was so scared. I was like, 'This is it. This is it. This is my last day and I didn't even get to see my album come out.'"
Don't worry Camilizers, the mystery woman just turned out to be a member of housekeeping. In the hour-plus-long interview, Cabello also talks about about the making of the album, from her favorite tracks to why she changed the album title. Watch the full interview below:
