Thanksgiving, Christmas, Prime Day... lots would consider it a holiday but there won't be any celebrating this month.

Prime Day typically happens around this time but Amazon has officially confirmed that they've delayed it for later this year.

Despite Amazon being one of the few businesses to do better from the pandemic -- CNN says their stock went up 73% this year -- they faced a lot of issues since more people were stuck at home and ordering essentials online. And Amazon being a one-stop shop for everything, that's where most consumers were doing their shopping. Because of this, they experienced shipping delays and shortages due to demand. To avoid a similar issue, especially as COVID cases continue to rise across the country, the company has made the decision to delay their giant two-day sale.

The good news though is that they still plan on holding Prime Day this year, but have not announced when yet. A spokesperson for the company said,

This year we'll be holding Prime Day later than usual, while ensuring the safety of our employees and supporting our customers and selling partners (via CNN).

They'll announce more details soon and we'll be keeping you in the loop so you can save the new date(s) in your calendar to plan accordingly for the deals you want to take advantage of.

Prime Day launched five years ago and according to CNN, Prime Day is so popular that its sales have even beat out Black Friday.

On the other hand, if you're too impatient to wait for some good deals, the coupon site/app, RetailMeNot, is holding a "mega savings event" until Sunday, the 26th where you can earn up to 20% cash back at over 100 stores including Nike, Apple, and Sephora.
