100,000 Michiganders to Get New Thermostats
100,000 Michiganders will be getting new, smart thermostats to help save energy and money, but who will be eligible to get it? According to WILX, Consumers Energy is teaming up with Google and Uplight to give out 100,000 Google Nest thermostats to Consumers customers. If you are eligible to get one you should receive it by the end of July.
I'm sure you are wondering "who is eligible to get one?" Pretty much any Consumers customer can get one, you just have to go here and apply for one, and all you will have to do is pay the tax and they will send one to you. If you aren't eligible for the Google Nest thermostat E they are also giving away Consumers Care packages with other ways to save energy and money. Another note is that these thermostats are also good for homes that are only gas customers, as the company is trying to be more energy efficient especially for natural gas customers.
I have a smart thermostat in my home and they are really good especially at this time of the year when you don't want to use heat too much now since its starting to get warm. The thermostats will be helpful too if you leave your home and want to come back to warm/cold home because you can set it using your phone. See more about and who can get one of them here.
