The Lansing area's first Whole Foods store is on track to open in early April. I have driven past this about 20 times now and the building and parking lot look to be ready but some finishing touches need to done according to Whole Food Management. The retailer hasn't announced an exact date yet for the opening of the store, at 2758 E. Grand River Ave. in Meridian Township.

The store first got that land in 2013 and was expected to open in 2015 but after some set backs is finally opening in April 2016.

The nearly 40,000 square-foot store will be located less than a mile east of the Michigan State University campus. Also it is only a few miles away from the capital building and in prime location of other retailers on Grand Ave.

The store will be the seventh Whole Foods in the state. The retailer has Michigan locations in Rochester Hills, West Bloomfield, Troy, Detroit and two in the Ann Arbor area.

The company has already begun advertising for the 150 new positions that will staff the store. Those openings include a prepared foods supervisor, cook, team leader and buyer/receiver. You can check their website for more details
