The United States Postal Service has announced that it will be stopping its stamp hikes at the start of 2026. Those Forever stamps that you have been using to mail things off will stay put, instead of continuing to rise like they have been for the past few years.

That may save you some money, especially when sending bills, birthday cards, as well as those Secretary of State forms... any break is welcomed in our wallets.

What USPS Is Changing Now

The USPS is deep into its 10-year "Delivering for America" overhaul, which means modernizing plants, simplifying its routes, and trying to steady the budget. Part of the plan has been steady price bumps.

We saw one back in July of 2025, when the Forever stamps were raised, only slightly, from 73 cents to 78 cents. Normally, there's another jump around New Year's, but we are being assured that it will not happen that way this year.

What Stayed the Same in 2025

Postmaster General David Steiner says that the Postal Service will hold off on Market Dominant products like First-Class Mail and other everyday services until at least mid-2026.

If you have stocked up on your Forever stamps this summer, you are probably in a good spot, but even if you didn't, there will be no racing before prices rise... because they aren't set to rise.

Packages and services can move differently, but there is no official plan to have prices rise anywhere else at this time.

Smart Moves To Save on Postage

You should check for any old Forever stamps and pair them with extra-ounce postage if you need. You can buy a booklet or two now if you like predictable costs, but keep in mind, those mid-year updates may hit at some point.
