Twitter Reacts to Kendrick Lamar’s Role as a Drug Addict on ‘Power’
Kendrick Lamar's cameo on the upcoming episode of Power is officially supposed to debut in the U.S. on Sunday night (July 29), but some fans have already gotten their hands on the highly-anticipated episode. Of course, the people are talking about Kung Fu Kenny's debut role.
Scenes including the "Loyalty" rapper have made their way to social media and show Lamar convincingly playing the role of a drug addict named Laces who appears to be working with 50 Cent's character, Kanan Starks, to take down his foes. In one scene, Crackhead Kenny is the set-up guy as he distracts a man on a side street by begging for money while Kanan roles up on a bike and gets the drop on his victim, blowing him away in broad daylight.
Kendrick had multiple scenes in the episode and is getting some rave reviews for his role. "I’ve never watched Power a day in my life, but I saw this whole scene & every other scene with him in it already Had no idea what was going on but I still enjoyed it," one person noted on Twitter. "Watch intently with subtitles. It was serious. I’m still @kendricklamar number 1 fan! #kendricklamar."
Another person added, "#KendrickLamar bodied that guest spot on @Power_STARZ. He’s either a damn good actor or knows a few too many crackheads lmao, dude was hilarious."
The big wigs at Power previously lauded the Compton rapper for his role, with executive producer Mark Canton calling the rapper a "once in a generation talent," adding, "Courtney [Kemp], 50 and I felt it would be exciting to create a role for him in Power. Everyone involved is thrilled to have him join the family."
Could this be the start of the DAMN. MC's acting career? Time will tell.
