Michigan shoppers will want to pay attention to another food recall, especially if Alfredo sauce is something that could be sitting in your fridge or being used in a kitchen near you.

Michigan Included In Alfredo Sauce Recall

The FDA has classified an Alfredo sauce recall at its highest risk level because of possible Salmonella contamination.

According to the FDA, The Coffee Connexion Co. Inc., based in Lebanon, Tennessee, voluntarily recalled 913 cases of Alfredo sauce after a supplier recalled a dry milk powder ingredient used in the product. That ingredient may have been contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall is listed as a Class I recall. That is the FDA's most serious recall classification, meaning there is a reasonable chance that using or being exposed to the product could cause serious health consequences or even death.

This does not appear to be the typical little jar of Alfredo sauce from the grocery store. Because of the large packaging, this looks more like a food-service product.

It is still worth knowing about in case you have the product.

Why This Recall Is Considered Serious

Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. It can be especially dangerous for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

If you have the product, you should not use it. You can throw it away or follow any return instructions from the place it was purchased.
