What can you say about rats? We sure don't want them in our house. Mice may be a bit welcome if they are caged and maybe a pet for the kiddos. Mice can be cute and friendly but rats of course tend to be way more aggressive.
I saw the movie "Willard" from 1971 and after seeing that flick as a kid I am sure not a fan of having rats anywhere around me, thank you very much.
Well here is the deal on rats in Michigan, Detroit is among the “rattiest” cities in the United States, according to mlive.com and Orkin’s annual report.
Worse Cities For Rats
In the top 5 of the worst cities for rats are my hometown Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. Last year it was the same ranking so nothing has really changed.
Michigan’s largest city, Detroit, actually dropped two spots from the 2020 list to No. 8, with Baltimore and Philadelphia inching ahead, according to Orkin. Grand Rapids (32) and Flint (34) are also on the list.
When the pandemic forced some restaurants to close, rats and other rodents had to find new places to find food, We were cooking more so why not our house. Let's hope not because rodents can cause severe structural damage, not to mention disease.
How To Get Rid Of Rodents
When I was a kid in Chicago one of the best ways to get rid of rats fast were snap traps. Also, peppermint oil, chili powder, citronella, and eucalyptus are the most common natural rodent repellents. If you see any in your house probably better to call an exterminator, especially if you have pets.
