Three Killed, Multiple Injured in Michigan High School Shooting

UPDATE: Wednesday morning a fourth victim, a 17-year-old boy, passed away from his injuries.

UPDATE: As of Tuesday evening, it's being reported that eight people were injured. According to WDIV-4, a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old girl were killed.

Three people have died and six were injured in a shooting at Oxford High School on Tuesday.

It is believed that the deceased are students at the school, which is located in Oakland County, Mich., about 45 minutes north of Detroit.

The shooter, a 15-year-old sophomore, has been taken into custody. He is uninjured.

WDIV-4 reports the shooting happened around 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30th.

Oxford High School was placed on lockdown and students transferred to a nearby Meijer store. Local police, Michigan State Police, EMS, SWAT, and aviation units all responded to the active shooter situation.

According to the Detroit News, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said,

Deputies confronted him, he had the weapon on him and deputies took him into custody. The whole thing lasted five minutes.

McCabe added that the weapon was a semi-automatic handgun from which 15-20 shots were fired.

Authorities believe the shooter acted alone.

A teacher is among the injured.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer shared a statement Tuesday afternoon.

The Michigan State Police Detroit Post Tweeted condolences in the aftermath of the tragedy.
