I have heard this argument before. I have been a part of it. And while I thought it was the thing of one too many drinks and sitting around a table waxing ecstatic about nothing (this smells like a Seinfeld episode actually), I never thought this debate would ever get this out of control.

This is a big deal and folks have been arguing about it for some time now.

How many Chugga Chugga(s) are there before you go Choo Choo?

Instinctively, I know it's four. Deep down in my soul I know it's four. I can remember it from my days in nursery school. There were train tracks in front of my grandma's house. I remember her saying it to me when I was a little boy.

THERE ARE FOUR (count em FOUR) CHUGGA CHUGGAS before CHOO CHOO.

CHUGGA CHUGGA, CHUGGA CHUGGA CHOO CHOO!

That's it. That's the cadence. End of story.

One of the most popular comments cited the importance of the “Batman” theme song in this particular situation.

“My rules is the same number of chuggas as we do for the Batman cartoon theme song,” Reddit user deadfermata wrote. “Na na na na na na na na na na na na BATMAN!” (Huffpost)

That right there is distraction and deflection my friends. And a whole nother argument for another time. Stay on topic.

Some research from a People article lead me to these Tweets.

Look...just two is not enough and for those of you claiming 8...that's waaaay too many.

I even saw it being argued in a local Lansing Facebook Group. Two of the comments were THE BEST responses I have ever heard to this argument.

Two, or multiples of four; but not more than 12 total. It depends on the context, how much time one has to invest and the effort exerted by the train engine.

Depends on how steep the hill is.
