A fairy, a mermaid, and a knight walk into a tavern... No, that's not the beginning of a hilarious joke, that is something that happens on the regular at the Michigan Renaissance Festival, which begins THIS weekend.

According to MLive, every weekend at Ren Fest from now until October 4th will be jammed packed with plenty of food, drink, and entertainment. Entertainment, no doubt, that will be suited for each themed weekend. Every weekend during the festival has a different theme. For instance, Labor Day weekend has been dubbed "High Seas Adventure". You can go and enjoy a tattoo or beard competition, a "Perfect Pirate" contest, and beer tasting all at the same time! And that's just some of the activities going on that weekend.

If you want to plan a trip to this 16th Century village, make sure you get your tickets! Ticket prices range depending on when you purchase them and what type of ticket needs purchasing. You can get all that info HERE. You'll also want to check out the schedule of their weekend themes (unless, of course, you just plan to go to all of them!) to better decide which weekend sounds best! And don't be shy... costumes, while awesome, are not required. So don't feel like you have to go all "Knight-in-literal-armor" in order to attend.

Are you excited to go to this year's Michigan Renaissance Festival? I'm especially excited, because this year will be my first time attending! I know, I'm 25 years old and have never been, cut me a little slack. I do plan on making the most of my first there, though! I would love to rock a costume of some sort. If you are a regular Ren Fest attendee and have some advice to lend for costume making (keeping in mind that I'm not a skilled seamstress, and by "making" I mean more along the lines of "putting together"), let me know on Facebook or in the comments below!
