Stockbridge Junior/Senior High School Evacuated
**Updated 12:02 PM**
Stockbridge Junior/Senior High School has been declared safe. The Lansing State Journal is reporting that Stockbridge Community Schools and the Stockbridge Police Department are currently investigating the threat.
Superintendent Karl Heidrich told the Lansing State Journal that they also placed the elementary school under lockdown "out of an abundance of caution." Elementary students were sent home today at 11:45 AM due to both the threat and the weather.
Earlier today at about 9:05 AM, the Stockbridge Junior/Senior High School was evacuated due to reports of a bomb threat written in the girls bathroom.
According to reports in the closed Facebook group, Stockbridge Mi Area News & Info, students were asked to quickly evacuate the High School. Students were not told why the school was being evacuated at the time, just to get out of the building.
Smith Elementary, and Heritage were put on lock down.
The 7th-12th graders were moved to the SAESA building for parents to pick them up.
A report was sent out to parents from the school, stating:
Dear Parents,
The Police and School District are currently investigating a building specific bomb threat that was written on a bathroom wall at the Junior/Senior High School. The building was quickly evacuated and students were released to go home or to get on buses to be transported to our parent reunification point.
Students on the bus were transported to our parent reunification point at SAESA building.... Parents can continue to come and pick students up at the reunification point.
The investigation will be conducted throughout this afternoon. We will report out as soon as we receive new information.
