Like it or not winter is on the way in Michigan and now that daylight savings time has ended it won't be long.

I am looking at it optimistically and this year gonna get out and ski and ice skate in Downtown Lansing.  We may as well get out and have some fun because Michigan has so many fun activities to enjoy.

It's here, Winter Hazards Awareness Week in Michigan, declared by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Like it or not the nice weather the start of this week is not here to stay. Expect some snow in Mid-Michigan this weekend with temps in the upper 30′s according to wilx.com.

Here Is What Officials Are Saying

We really can't predict what winter weather will be like and the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) really wants Michiganders to be ready for winter emergencies.

As colder months roll in, Michiganders should be prepared, as usual, to prepare for potential frozen pipes, propane shortages, and power outages,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “By taking effective precautions, we can all be ready for whatever the Michigan winter wants to throw at us, enjoy the holiday season, and keep our families safe and warm.

This is very important for your home and especially in you car. Make sure you have an emergency kit stored safely in your house that includes water, nonperishable food, a first aid kit, extra batteries, a battery or hand-crank-powered radio, emergency lighting or flashlights, extra blankets, and warm clothing.
