The huge "Red Cedar Project" which has been discussed for a few years now is finally approved, and the building will start soon. The project has been in discussion for the last 6 years and when built will be on the border of Lansing/East Lansing on Grand River Ave across from Frandor. After tons of talk and votes, according to WLNS, the Lansing City Council gave it final approval Monday night with a vote of 7 to 1.

The Red Cedar Project has hit a few snags because some people were concerned that the Red Cedar project put too much emphasis on student housing, but after a few changes it looks to be evened out. The project will now include a mix of one and two bedroom units geared towards people of all ages (30% will be marketed towards non-students), two hotels, a parking structure, a senior living facility, amphitheater, restaurants, and a public park. The "Red Cedar Project will be costing $250 million and will be a huge increase in people living and working on Grand River Ave.
