If you were planning on doing some cooking at home tonight, you may want to check your spice cabinet, as a certain spice is now being recalled here in Michigan.

It's one of many recalls that Michigan has seen in the last couple of weeks, and the FDA is warning that if you do have this spice, you should throw it away immediately.

Urgent Spice Recall Affecting Michigan

It's not something you probably do a ton of work with regularly, however, definitely a spice you have somewhere in the house.

Cinnamon is now on the docket, and being recalled here in the state of Michigan, after being sold in some stores here in Michigan. The recall is in part due to a higher level of lead contained inside the spice.

There are six different brands of cinnamon that are currently on the recall list for containing lead - and should be thrown away immediately.

The brands are:

  • El Chilar, sold at La Joya Morelense
  • La Fiesta, sold at La Superior Supermercados
  • Swad, sold at Patel Brothers
  • Supreme Tradition, sold at Dollar Tree and Familly Dollar Stores
  • MK, sold at SF Supermarket
  • Marcum, sold at Save A Lot

Cinnamon has a rather long shelf life as well, so you should check your cupboards immediately for the following spices to ensure you and your family are protected.
