Nine Michigan Beaches Closed Due To Contamination
On a hot steamy day, Michiganders love to flock to their favorite beaches, but nine of those were shut down just as the heat shot up. Fortunately, none were around here.
The reasons were not specific, but the beaches tested high in bacterial contamination. This could be from sewage overflows following heavy rain, and goose and/or duck droppings in smaller lakes.
Several Northern Michigan lakes were also reporting that swimmers were getting 'Swimmer's itch', a painful rash caused by those aforementioned ducks.
