We all are probably well-aware by now that the college graduates of 2020 definitely got the short end of the stick but now, colleges like Michigan State University are trying to give them the experience of walking the stage.

Walk This Way

According to WILX, nearly 14,000 students are being welcomed back to their Alma Mater to be able to partake in the in-person graduation ceremony after over a year of pushing through the school year during the pandemic and not getting that well-deserved celebration.

"All degree level graduates from 2020, as well as spring 2021 master's, educational specialist and doctoral graduates, will be invited to ceremonies on Sept. 17-20," WILX reports. "All degree level graduates from the summer 2021 semesters will be given the option to attend in September or participate in the fall 2021 ceremonies in December.

The ceremonies will take place at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center, as well as live-streamed!

The Most Graduation Ceremonies In A Single Year?

It's looking like it is shaping up to be a big year for commencements at Michigan State as back in April of 2021, Spring graduates were able to attend one of over 50 "limited-attendance" outdoor ceremonies.

Now, there will be even more graduates and graduations, something MSU Provost Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D. told WILX is something the university is proud to be able to do.

"We promised these graduates an in-person celebration and are proud of the contributions from faculty and staff across the university to make this a reality," she said. "These celebrations are as much about these graduates’ fortitude and resilience as their academic accomplishments."

A Congratulations From Us to All

I was lucky enough to graduate in 2018 from Grand Valley State University and walking across that stage at Van Andel Arena will forever be one of my most special memories.

It may seem silly to some that putting on a cap and gown to get a piece of paper would be so important to people.

However, it is much more than that. It is a culmination of all the hard work (and yeah, money) that earns you a day for you to be able to celebrate and feel acknowledged for all of it.

Congratulations to all the graduates from Class of 2020, 2021 and beyond!
