The live music industry and entertainment venues are one of the industries to take a giant hit  from the pandemic, and any help to keep them running is necessary.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced on Wednesday that over 100 live music and entertainment venues across the state have received a $3.4 million grant. The grant came through the Michigan Stages Survival Grant Program which was incepted to help music venues "that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic."

101 venues in 30 Michigan counties were eligible for the grant and each were awarded up to $40,000 to help cover payroll, rent, mortgage, any other costs to help the venues reopen. A full list of the venues that received the grant can be seen here. The following 15 are located in West Michigan:

  • Barn Theatre in Augusta - $40K

The Michigan Stages Survival Grant is just one of 23 relief programs that the MEDC has created since March of last year.

...nearly $240 million in relief has been provided by the MEDC to more than 25,000 businesses and venues in the state.

If you are a business who's experienced financial loss due to the pandemic, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check out available resources, and see if you qualify for any grants.
