Disney's live action "Cruella" is coming to theatre's on May 28th and Michigan native, Paul Walter Hauser, will be co-starring with Emma Stone. You may have seen him in Clint Eastwood's, "Richard Jewell", which was released in 2019. It was about the security guard who was wrongly accused for the 1996 Olympic bombing in Atlanta.

Hauser was born in Grand Rapids and grew up in Saginaw. His first career break was in 2010 with the film "Virginia." He also starred in "I, Tonya" and Spike Lee's, "BlacKkKlansman" and "Da 5 Bloods." His new movie, "Silk Road", is out today. It's available in select theaters and on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and other platforms. It's about the internets first illegal marketplace.

When I started reading about Hauser, I was like, "Wait, I know this guy, I've seen him in something else." Then I remembered he was one of the characters in a favorite show of mine, "Kingdom."

Hauser recently did an interview with Detroit Free Press and talked about some of his favorite things from Michigan. If he had to choose between Jet's Pizza or a Coney dog, he's going with Jet's. His favorite flavor of Faygo isn't the usual Rock & Rye either.

"Keep the Rock & Rye. I'm Moon Mist, all day, baby. Detroit-style pizza > Coney Dogs. Jet's is my $#*T."

When he was asked why a lot of Michigan actors tend to be more comedic, he said it was because we have dark humor figured out.

"Funny people come from all over. I think Michigan has dark humor on lock, though. Michigan, to me, is equal parts beautiful and noticeably dark. Saginaw made me dark, hahaha. North Bond Street was no joke."

Have you ever been asked what part of Michigan your from and showed somebody where, by pointing at your hand? Cause I have and so has Hauser. The most famous person he's ever shown, Clint Eastwood.
