Michigan Could See Aurora Borealis This Weekend

I know it's hard to get a look at the Aurora Borealis, but this weekend Michigan is going to be in good sight of it. According to WLNS and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration they say that a sighting of the natural beautiful lights might be possible for our area when it is usually only seen in Canada or Alaska. The reason for us being able to see it this weekend is due to geomagnetic storm activity.

The best chance to see it will be Saturday night into Sunday morning. Also the NOAA says darkness is best for viewing the aurora borealis, saying that the "...widest part of the aurora occurs when the sun is on the opposite side of the earth." So late into the night or early morning darkness tends to provide the best opportunity for sight. So if you want to check it out, make sure to take a nap during the day so you will be able to stay up till 3am.
