
URGENT: Michigan Residents Urged to Check Their Mailboxes Now
I have to admit, as a renter, and a kid of the 21st century, I cannot say that I check my mailbox all that much. In fact, I may actually check out what we get in the mail here at work more than I do my own personal mailbox. If you have any fan mail, the best way to reach me is probably through text.

With that being said, the USPS is sending an alert to Michigan residents, and asking them to a quick look over at the mailbox that they currently have.

One of the last weeks of May, is typically observed by the United States Postal Service, as National Mailbox Improvement Week. This year, it is being observed from May 18th through Mary 25.

The USPS initiated this for ensuring safe, secure and efficient mail delivery across the state of Michigan, not only for you, but their carriers as well. Things that you are being asked to do to participate are.
- Inspect Mailbox Condition
- Check for loose hinges
- Repaint Rusted Surface
- Remount loosened Mailbox Posts
- Update House Numbers
- Make sure your current address is correct and the most up-to-date.
- Clear Obstructions
- Trees, grass or other things that could block the grass
- Pick up debris that may make it an obstacles for delivery drivers.
The long-term goal here is to benefit you, and ensure that all of your mail arrives on time in a safe manner not just for you, but the USPS drivers as well.
